Imphal, April 02 2021:
A 41 year old man Huidrom Imo @ Dhirebi (41 yrs) s/o of late Huidrom Mubi of Khagempalli Huidrom Leikai who went to attend a wedding in Samurou was found dead under suspicious circumstances prompting the Khagempalli Huidrom Leikai Yumjao Lairembi Meira Welfare Association (KHLYLMWA) and the local club to stage a sit in protest today.
Speaking on the sidelines, Khuraijam Rohini, secretary of KHLYLMWA said that Huidrom Imo went to attend a wedding at Samurou on March 31 and did not return home.
She continued that they came to know about his death the next day only, which was on April 1, when his Aadhaar card was posted in social media that a body has been deposited by Wangoi police at RIMS morgue claiming that he died in an accident at Samurou Naorem Leikai.
She questioned why Wangoi police did not contact the Singjamei police station as Huidrom Leikai is within its jurisdiction and could have informed the family members accordingly.
The secretary continued that there were injury marks on the face likely caused by a heavy object and strangulation marks on his neck.
However the Kinetic Honda which the deceased had used to go for the wedding was not at all damaged.
All other identifying documents like Aadhar card and driving license were with him except his mobile phone.
The death is suspicious and unnatural, she said and urged the Government and authorities concerned to find out the truth within three days.
If the demands are not heeded within the stipulated time, the locals warned of strong forms of agitation.
