Gaikhangam says incidents of violent crimes recorded 'very low' in Manipur in 2014

Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam said the incidents of crime in the State considered to be a 'conflict zone' were recorded 'very low' in 2014 and attributed it to the people's cooperation given to the Government.
Celebrating New Year 2015 at Tarung village, Langol here yesterday, the Deputy Chief Minister further sought cooperation from the people to usher in a new era of peace and tranquillity in Manipur in 2015 .
"The State police have now become a 'people-friendly force' after the Home Department launched a police modernisation programme a few years back," claimed Gaikhangam.
He claimed that the State police forces have stopped using offensive language against civilians and the rate of unwanted incidents and violent crime recorded was very low in Manipur in the year that has just passed by.
Meanwhile, on the sidelines of the function organised by Rongmei Naga Baptist Association, Central Church, Imphal, the Deputy Chief Minister said the currently pending verification process for the newly selected Manipur police Assistant Sub-Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors will be completed soon.
He also said results for the written test held for recruitment of 2,000 Manipur police constables will be declared within January.
