STDCM lines up interaction prog

The Scheduled Tribe Demand Committee Manipur (STDCM) has announced that they would soon launch a poster campaign as well as a series of interaction programmes with school and college students, Meira Paibis, local clubs and other organisations as part of the ongoing movement for inclusion of Meitei/Meetei in ST category under the Constitution of India .
As resolved at the public convention held at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound on September 24, the STDCM submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister on September 29 to forward a recommendation to the Government for inclusion of Meitei/Meetei in the ST category by October 20 .
Even though Chief Minister N Biren gave an assurance on the floor of the Manipur State Assembly on August 2 that the demand for inclusion of Meitei/Meetei would be referred to the Manipur State Commission for Scheduled Tribe, the State Government has not taken up any concrete step till date, decried STDCM in a press release issued its publicity secretary Waikhom Anand Meetei .
The STDCM would need monetary help for the poster campaign and the interaction session which would be launched soon, it said while appealing to all the people to contribute to the campaign in cash, kind or physically .
It also conveyed gratitude to all the people who have contributed their mite to the campaign so far.
