33rd National Nutrition Week commences

The 33th National Nutrition Week, organised by the Social Welfare department, was initiated today alongside a one day workshop programme on the theme Poshak Aahar, Desh Ka Aadhar at the State Bal Bhawan Conference Hall, Khuman Lampak.
Speaking on the occasion Social welfare Minister AK Mirabai highlighted mothers' roles in the making of a healthy society.
She said, every mother should feel herself responsible towards the provision of healthy diet to her children, which in turn would contribute to the making of a disease free healthy society.
The decreasing number of child mortality and birth rates in the State, Mirabai added, reflect the consciousness of modern mothers.
She further stated that a mother should equally feel herself responsible towards making her child a good citizen.
She suggested introduction of homegrown nutritious foods in children's diet.
The Social Welfare Minister further appealed to CDPOs and Supervisors to contribute towards attaining the target of implementing 100 percent of Government sponsored schemes and programmes which include distribution of dietary supplements to children between 0-6 months of age through ICDS.
Social Welfare Joint Director, S Rupchandra also spoke on the occasion.
He appealed the department officials to regularly attend office and submit project reports on time.
He further requested for regular distribution of Government provided supplements to the public.
Many other resource persons also spoke at the workshop.
