Divisive forces to be faced strongly : CM

Chief Minister O Ibobi has affirmed that any divisive forces and disintegrating tendencies of the country will be faced squarely and added that it is the bounden duty of all to protect the Nation's integrity.
The Chief Minister was addressing the National Re-dedication Day and National Unity Day to commemorate the death anniversary of first woman Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi and the birth anniversary of Sardar Valabhai Patel respectively.
The State Govt organised the National Re-dedication Day at the Conference Hall of Old Secretariat while the National Unity Day was held at 1st MR Parade Ground.
O Ibobi eulogised the personality and deeds of Indira Gandhi, who according to him was a leader of high calibre who had left many legacies during her Prime Ministership.
In 1969, Indira Gandhi embarked on the path to bring a change in India by Nationalising the banks.
She had also contributed tremendously at the international level, the CM said.
Calling upon all concerned to carry on the dream of a developed India espoused by Indira Gandhi, O Ibobi said all should renew a pledge to this effect on her death anniversary.
Pointing out that certain elements are putting all out efforts to disintegrate National integrity, O Ibobi pledged to face any challenge.
He urged all concerned to preserve the integrity of the Nation.
Speaking at the occasion, Dy CM Gaikhangam, while praising the sacrificial spirit of Indira Gandhi for the cause of India, said the country could attain its present status because of the numerous good deeds and dedication of Indira Gandhi.
He urged all concerned to follow the footsteps of the departed leader.
He called upon all concerned to re-dedicate to the principles of any leader on their birth or death anniversary instead of remaining satisfied with only the ritual practice of offering floral tributes to departed leaders on such occasions.
Later, addressing the Unity Day at 1st MR Parade ground, CM O Ibobi said the day has been observed to renew the pledge for the protection of National integrity.
Ministers, MLAs, Chief Secretary PC Lawmkunga, DGP Shahid Ahmad and other officials attended the programme.
The National Re-dedication Day was also organised by the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee at Congress Bhavan.
CM, Dy CM, Ministers and Congress MLAs and workers offered floral tributes to Indira Gandhi.
