'Dengue calm' urged in CCpur

People in the district of Churachandpur do not need to lose sleep over spread of Dengue in the district as the Government departments concerned have swung into action to control the disease, stated Manipur State Malaria Officer, Asem Ibochouba today.
The State Malaria Department had promptly issued instruction to the authority concerned of Churachandpur district to take up all possible measures to prevent the spread of Dengue vector after the department confirmed a positive dengue virus test result from the blood sample of a woman on October 24, State Malaria Officer Ibochouba told Newmai News Network this afternoon.
A team from District Malaria Office, Churachandpur visited Chengkonpa village near the district's Don Bosco School where a dengue case was officially confirmed, he said.
The team had carefully carried out water treatment and breeding area deduction in the village, he added.
He added since the dengue positive woman is now out of danger after giving proper medical treatment, people in the district do not need to worry about the disease because further reports of dengue case has not been officially detected in the district since the initial case.
Some blood samples collected from the area have not yet been sent to the State Malaria Department which in turn has to send back the samples to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for dengue test, he further informed.
He said a person suffering from common fever should not always be taken as a dengue case but if suspicions grow up doctors should be consulted first.
The State Malaria Officer also advised that people should avoid from going straight to the laboratory for dengue test.
Ibochouba added that so long as the mosquitoes carrying the virus are no more present in any particular area, the presence of any person suffering from the disease in that area is alright.
People from the state staying in other states of India, particularly in Delhi, where cases of dengue have been reported as up, also do not require carrying out screening while returning home at the airport, he said.
Meanwhile, District Malaria Officer, Churachandpur Dr P Nengzadou in an official report sent to the district Deputy Commissioner has informed the latter that the staff of the district Malaria Office is now persistently taking up all preventive measures following a case of dengue was reported from the district, an official source said.
