Imphal, August 31 2015:
JCILPS would hold another round of meeting with the State Government tomorrow.
This was announced by JCILPS convenor in-charge Khomdram Ratan while speaking to reporters at the office of NIPCO tonight.
He said that JCILPS would press the Government to immediately release all the hunger strikers who are currently lodged in different jails and juvenile observation homes without any condition and provide compensation to the persons who have been injured in different pro-ILPS agitations.
During the meeting, JCILPS would also discuss the matter of performing Robinhood's last rites at State level at a suitable place which can be developed as a memorial site, he said.
Ratan further said, a mass procession would be taken out on the day.
He said that apart from the death of Sapam Robinhood, 347 persons were injured in different pro-ILPS movements across the State.
People erupted in mass protest after the death of Sapam Robinhood on July 8, he said.
The State Legislative Assembly has now passed three Bills regarding implementation of a law similar to ILPS, he said and added that this was possible due to the people's sustained mass uprising.
But people must not take rest until the three Bills are fully implemented after they are transformed into Acts.
Stating that the pro-ILPS is not against the non-locals, Ratan clarified that people of Manipur are simply demanding introduction of a regu- latory mechanism to check entry and exit of non-locals.
Some vested interest groups tried to hijack the people's movement at one point of time but they could not due to people's concrete stand.
Saying that the demand for ILPS is not for a particular community but for the whole indigenous people of the State, Ratan urged people of hill areas not to call bandh or blockade against ILPS implementation.
