Imphal, June 30 2015 :
Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU) has imposed a ban on issue of prospectus and admission forms in all departments of MU as the authority has allegedly failed to fulfil the charter of demands it had raised earlier.
Speaking to reporters at Students' Home of MU, MUSU general secretary RK Pritam said that the Union has been demanding to fix the cut off marks of the common entrance test at 50 per cent for admission to MA/MSc/MCom in various departments of MU.
Decentralisation of powers in matter of finance, payment of monthly fellowship to non-NET holder PhD scholars, and proper maintenance of the library and other infrastructure are amongst other demands of MUSU, according to Pritam.
The union also demanded that the MU authority should reserve at least two hours on all working days for the students' community to highlight their grievances.
Pritam further said that the union has collected names of students and teachers who are indulging in contract works and they must stop all such activities as it has brought a bad name to MUSU.
MUSU further warned of intensifying their agitation if the demands are not fulfilled by July 3 .
