Lenin, Jadumani named for noted literary award

Writers Lenin Khumancha and Ningombam Jadumani Singh have been announced as recipients of the prestigious Yuva Puraskar and Bal Sahitya Puraskar respectively as per a statement from Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi today.
According to a statement from general secretary of Sahitya Akademi K Sreenivasarao, a list of recipients has been announced for the year 2021 in different Indian languages recognised by the Akademi.
It is worth noting that Lenin Khumancha has been selected for this prestigious award for his 2017 book of poems written in the Manipuri language titled 'Matamgi Manglan'.
Hailing from Khangabok Makha Leikai, he is the son of Laishram Bihari and Laishran (o) Ngangbi.
He is currently pursuing his PhD in Manipuri at Manipur University.
Lenin Khumancha has penned 3 poetry books so far, namely, Mangdasu Taibangdasu (2009), Machusingi Machu (2011) and Matamgi Manglan (2017).Matamgi Manglan has also been awarded the 'Arambam Ibungohal and Binodkumari Literary Award 2017' conferred by Patriotic Writers' Forum as well as 'Tekcham Kamini Kusa Loidang Ningshing Khorirol Mana 2019' by Khorirol Sandoklup Wangjing.
The Yuva Puraskar award comprises a memento and a cash reward of Rs 50,000.The Sahitya Akademi has announced award recipients for 20 different languages.
