Imphal, December 30 2015 :
State Chief Secretary O Nabakishore has urged the Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi to arrange special escorts for smooth movement of tankers carrying petroleum products into the State.
The Chief Secretary has written to the Union Home Secretary after about 250 State bound tankers carrying petroleum products were reportedly stranded at Khatkhati in Assam yesterday.
Since the CRPF personnel escorted only 50 tankers and 50 vehicles carrying FCI rice from Khatkhati in each trip, there is shortage of petroleum products in the State.
As such, there is a need for special team to escort petroleum products transporters.
Earlier, Joint Secretary of Ministry of Petroleum Ashutosh Jindal had given written assurance to the CS to make arrangements for special escorts for petroleum product transporters of the State.
