Imphal, December 29 2021: Thangmeiband AC MLA Khumukcham Joykishan has stated that a good politician should always uphold honesty and never deceive the people and added that politicians should focus on serving the people.

The MLA said this while inaugurating a new shrine of Ibudhou Moirangpokpa at Nagamapal Phougeishangbam Leikai.

Joykishan continued that there are no cases of pre-poll violence in Thangmeiband AC till date as majority of the people in the Constituency are well educated.

"We politicians should focus on serving the people," the MLA said and added, "I've been urging all to begin their election campaign after election notification is issued to prevent any forms of violence and to save people's time and energy from campaigning much ahead of the election".

"There is also a need to reform our election system," he opined.

It is quite surprising that certain people are coming out to serve the people only when the election is nearing, Joykisan said and added that certain people taking politics lightly is very unfortunate.

The MLA also urged the people to conform to the SOPs to defeat the pandemic.
