'Getting to Zero' on MACS map

As in the previous years, Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MACS) has geared up to observe World AIDS Day on December 1 at the State level.
Speaking to media persons at their Lamphel office this afternoon, MACS Project Director SK Chaurasia said that this year's World AIDS Day theme is 'Getting to Zero' defined in terms of zero infection, zero discrimination and zero death.
The State level observation is scheduled at MFDC auditorium with Governor Gurbachan Jagat, Chief Minister O Ibobi, Speaker Th Lokeshore and Family Welfare Minister Phungzathang Tonsing as presidium members.
Based on the objectives of NACP III, MACS has intervention programmes in the form of Information, Education and Communication (IEC), Targeted Intervention (TI), Integrated Counselling and Testing Centre (ICTC), Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI), Prevention of Parents to Child Transmission (PPTCT), Care Support and Treatment (CST) .
Apart from these, Centre of Excellence (CoE) for second line ART at RIMS, Paediatric Centre of Excellence at JNIMS exclusively for children are running under the support of NACO through MACS, said SK Chaurasia.
He said that there are 12 ART centres in the State and 11 link ART centres.
Cumulative number of patients alive on ART till September this year is 8731 .
Manipur has 77 Integrated Counselling and Testing centres including six mobile ICTCs.
Between April and September this year, 1006 HIV positive cases were detected including 95 pregnant women.
