Bail for school secretary

The Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal East has released Pangeijam Saratchandra who was arrested by Heingang police on the alleged charge of humiliating a student of EK Higher Secondary School for wearing an earring in front of other students.
It is reported that the student was wearing an earring in one of his ears.
Secretary of EK Higher Secondary School, P Saratchandra of Heingang Mayai Leikai was released after he paid a bail bond amounting to Rs 50,000 .
He was produced before the Court by Heingang police on completion of his police custody period with a prayer to send him to judicial custody.
The defence counsel, on the other hand, filed a remand objection and sought bail.
The APP of the State submitted that the father of the minor student lodged a complaint stating that P Saratchandra stopped his son after the class was over at around 3.35 pm on October 24 for wearing a gold earring.
Claiming that Saratchandra asked his son to take out the earring using abusive language in front of other students and security guards, the complainant added his son took out his earring as directed and handed it over to the accused.
The complainant also claimed that Saratchandra threw away the gold earring without giving any reason.
Continuing that the student has changed his school after the incident, the complainant added that the student now needs treatment as the incident has traumatised him.
The Court after hearing the submission of APP, the defence counsel and perusal of the material on record released P Saratchandra on execution of Rs 50,000 bail bond.
The Court, however, directed the accused to appear before the police station as and when called for and not leave the State without prior permission of the Court.
Meanwhile, students of EK Higher Secondary School staged a sit-in protest at the school campus at Sangakpham today and demanded unconditional release of their founder secretary P Saratchandra.
Placards that read "Don't politicise a minor issue" and "Release Saratchandra without any condition" among others.
