BJP MLA picks out MDS

Imphal, February 28 2016: BJP MLA Kh Joykishan has stated that Manipur Development Society (MDS) is the biggest defect of the State Government for it is this agency which has been looting public money the most.

He said that he and fellow BJP MLA Th Bishwajit raised a number of demand cut and policy cut motions in the State Assembly regarding different activities of MDS but the Speaker dismissed the motions saying that it would be prejudice to discuss the matter as it is being investigated by the Assembly's Public Accounts Committee (PAC) .

"Nonetheless we are hopeful that the PAC headed by Dr I Ibohalbi would come up with all the facts and wrongdoings of MDS after due investigation", Joykishan said.

All the wrongdoings and activities of the Government which defied the Constitution and general rules would be exposed during the ongoing Assembly session by BJP, he continued.

He also accused the incumbent Government of taking up development programmes only in areas repre- sented by ruling MLAs while totally ignoring areas represented by opposition MLAs.

He then lambasted the practice of retaining retired offices against different tops rather than giving opportunities to serving MCS/IAS officers.

Commenting on the suspension of five police personnel whom the Deputy Chief Minister pronounced not guilty, Joykishan supported the rebellion of Congress MLAs against the Deputy Chief Minister.

He further to the Congress MLAs to go ahead with the protest until justice is done instead of enacting political drama.

Existence of the incumbent Government is meaningless for it yields to pressure, added the BJP MLA.
