DSSS organises training programme on post harvest management

Ukhrul, February 26 2023: Diocesan Social Service Society (DSSS) in collaboration with KVK Ukhrul organised a 1-day training programme on post harvest management for Sivathei Farmers Producer Company (FPC) under MOVCDNER Phase III at Chatric Khullen village in Kamjong district.

At the event, resource person Dr Solei Luiram, head of KVK Ukhrul, educated the farmers on different harvest management strategies for king chilli, ginger and turmeric.

Solomon Yamro, District Coordinator Ukhrul & Kamjong District highlighted the main objective of conducting the training programme for organic farmers.

KVK Ukhrul also distributed 17 Manual Weeders to encourage the farmers of 5 FIGs (Rinsit, Phasa, Mirin, Athei and Mathuk) .

DSSS in collaboration with the Agriculture Department, Ukhrul also organised a post harvest management training for Semka FPC under MOVCDNER Phase III at Tashar village, Ukhrul.

It may be mentioned that similar training programmes for FPCs of IHAO and Haoram were also held last week.

Honpam Phungshok, field inspector Ukhrul & Kamjong district, deliberated on the roles and responsibility of FPC, Board of Director in supervising the organic farmers and the benefit of organic farming.

As many as 66 farmers from Ukhrul and Kamjong districts took part in the training programme.
