Thoubal, September 25 2019: Under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, GoI, the Nehru Yuva Kendra, Thoubal observed the 103rd Birth Anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay at Mamang Leirak Youth Development Club (MLYDC) today.

N (o) Mala Devi, pradhan Khangabok part I GP; L Naba Singh, uppa-pradhan Khangabok part I GP; and Michael Thangmilien Mate, District Youth Coordinator, NYK Thoubal attended the observance function as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

Delivering the welcome address, DACYP member K Lokendro Singh welcomed all the participants and talked about the observance of the birth anniversary of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay and the linkages with NYKS programmes and activities.

DYC NYK Thoubal, Michael T Mate briefed the gathering on Antyodaya Diwas and various Govt schemes named after Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay like DDU-GKY and DAY.

President MLYDC Priyokumar delivered the keynote address as the resource person and briefed the gathering on the life story and philosophy of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay who was born in a noble family and became a pioneer in the formation of Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJS) in India, his focused on social service by providing lifeskills to the youth and caring for the last person in the queue.

Chief guest N (o) Mala Devi exhorted the youths to imbibe the teachings of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay while functional president L Naba Singh asked the gathering to inculcate the philosophies of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay in everyday life.

The programme was followed by Block Level Declamation Contest on the topic "Patriotism & Nation-Building".

Meanwhile, as celebrated widely across the country, 103rd birth anniversary of the national figure late Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay was observed at Regional Institute of Handicapped Person (RIHP), Yairipok Bamol Leikai in Thoubal district today.

The function was attended by State Commissioner, Persons With Disabilities Manipur, Dr RK Kumarjit Singh (MD) as chief guest; president RIPH Yairipok Dr Maibam Rajendra Singh as functional president and District Social Welfare Officer Thoubal A Kameshawr Singh as guest of honour.

Delivering the keynote speech, Secy RIHP, Sh Kunjabihari Sharma said that RIPH is an institute exclusively for differently abled persons run with the fund sanctioned under Deen Dayal Disabled Rehablitation Scheme.

As part of the function, students of the institute entertained the gathering by showcasing their talents including poetry recitation, mimicry, dialogue delivery and singing song.

On the other hand, BJP Thoubal district also observed the 103rd Birth Anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay at District Party Office today.

Led by the district president, L Deben, members of the party paid floral tributes and respect to the photo of the late leader.

They also conducted cleanliness drive around the statue of Paona Brajabashi at Khongjom Kheba Ching and paid respect to the courageous leader.
