EduFest / Exhibition for Peace kicks off at Saikul

InSIDE-North East and Kuki Student's Organization, Saikul in collaboration with Peace Work � Seagull Foundation, New Delhi kicked off EduFest cum Exhibition for Peace at Saikul hill town in Kangpokpi district today.
ADC Sadar Hills Vice Chairman, Thangjakam Misao, who graced the occasion as chief guest inaugurated the EduFest cum Exhibition at Kuki Inn, Saikul hill town in the presence of Ranita Ray, Peace Work-Seagull Foundation, Kolkata, Ishita Dutta, Teach for India-TFIx, Mumbai and other dignitaries.
The EduFest which will continue till October 31 consists of Quiz, Extempore, Debate, Painting and display of the exhibition 'Anne Frank - A history for Today', documentary on "The short life of Anne Frank" and related educational activities aimed at students and teachers.

Speaking on the sideline of the event, Hejang Misao, Director, InSIDE-North East said that the main objective is to enhance the knowledge, confidence of students and raise awareness about human rights and life story of 'Anne Frank and the Holocaust'.
He continued that Anne Frank�a History for today, is a project that consists of an international travelling exhibition and related workshops and activities and is a part of the educational activities run by the Anne Frank House, the Netherlands.
The project first came to India in 2012 and the exhibition was set up in the Seagull Foundation for the Arts.
In 2013, PeaceWorks�an initiative of the Seagull Foundation for the Arts became the India partner of the Anne Frank House.
Since 2013, PeaceWorks has travelled the exhibition all over India, reaching out to over 6,000 students and have conducted teacher-training workshops with over 500 educators, he added.
During the function, the peer guides, students who underwent three day training, explained the dignitaries/panels about the life of Anne Frank and the holocaust.
Group song by students of DePaul English school, Molkon and cultural performance by Shom-Inn Cultural Troupe marked the opening event.
