Imphal, June 24 2021:
People of Charoi Pandongba (Pongringlong) village have expressed anguish over police inaction even after many of the villagers were hurt and many of their houses and vehicles were burnt in an 'attack' by a JAC called Tupul JAC.
Representing the villagers, chairman of Charoi Pandongba- Gonthanga Gongthangmei in a press release stated that no action has been taken up against the perpetrators of the June 17 'attack' wherein many villagers were injured and houses and vehicles were burnt.
It is unfortunate that the authorities concerned have not taken up any action against those who masterminded the clash despite restrictions imposed in the area by District Magistrates of Kangpokpi and Noney, the chairman said.
As an FIR has been registered at New Keithelmanbi police station in connection with the incident, authorities concerned should take up stringent action against the perpetrators and compensate the villagers who incurred losses during the incident, he appealed.
The leader from Thoubei also reminded that Charoi Pandongba is a very old Kabui village situated within Kangchup Geljang Saitu sub-division in Kangpokpi district and was renamed Pongringlong some time in 2003 .
