Healthy turn out recorded for repoll in 12 ACs, Heingang tops with 90.1 pc

The turnout for the repoll at 12 polling stations all belonging to 4 Assembly Constituencies of Imphal East, has reached 87.12 percent.
2/23 Heingang Mayai Leikai (A) under 2-Heingang AC, had the highest voter turnout at 92.6 percent for the poll which began from 7 in the morning and lasted till 4 in the evening.
A total of 133 voters had cast their votes at Lairenjao High School polling station at Heingang Mayai Leikai by 9 am and by 11 am, the number climbed to 309 and by the end of the poll, 790 people (371 males and 319 females) had given their votes in the polling station.

On the other hand, a total of 1003 voters (478 males and 525 females) cast their vote at 2/26 Heingang Makha Leikai Heingang High School polling station thus bringing the voter turnout to 90.1 percent.
It is reported that during today's repoll, 6/35 polling station under Keirao Kendra had the least number of voter turnout at 80 percent.
The voter turn out at 2/31 Kairang Muslim Mayai Leikai was 85.5 percent while that of 2/32 Kairang Muslim Mamang Leikai was 88.5 percent and that of 2/33 Kairang Khunou Chingya Leikai was 83.3 percent.
The voter turn out at 5/32 Khongman Zone 5 (B) under 5-Thongju AC was 87.4 percent while that of 6/6 Kyamgei Mamang Leikai under 6 Keirao AC was 88.5 percent.
The voter turnout for 6/10 Kyamgei Muslim (South) (A) was 89.4 percent while that of 6/20 Urup Muslim was 85 percent and that of 6/35 Thiyam Konjil (B) was 80 percent.
7/32 Yambem (C) under 7 Andro AC had a voter turnout of 87.5 percent while that of 7/39 Nungbrang was 87.6 percent.
A total of 7846 voters cast their votes in 12 polling stations today thus bringing the total voter turnout to 87.12 percent.
On the other hand, speaking to The Sangai Express one of the voters lauded the decision of the ECI to conduct a repoll and said that violence and other unethical practices during election are not good signs.
Stating that such activities ultimately lead to wastage of the voters' time, the individual said that today is not a holiday and the voters had to bear many inconveniences due to the repoll.
A large number of Central paramilitary forces and State forces were deployed at the polling stations to ensure peaceful repoll.
All 12 polling stations were also live webcasted and had numerous CCTV cameras installed.
