Kangpokpi, October 23 2019:
With the Indo-Naga peace talks drawing to a conclusion with the final talk being scheduled on October 24, Kuki bodies have cautioned the Govt of India to be cautious and take decision wisely in signing the final pact with the Nagas.
Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi district, general secretary Lamminlun Singsit also asked the Government of India to expedite without any further delay and strike a final deal with the emissaries of the Kuki people, ie the UPF and KNO in bringing about a respectable solution in the form of a Territorial Council for the Kukis.
"The Kukis are prepared and willing to defend their territorial integrity till the last drop of their blood", he maintained.
Taking serious note of the current development vis-a-vis the Naga Peace Accord or Framework Agreement (FA), the Kuki civil bodies of Kangpokpi district including Sadar Hills Chiefs' Association (SAHILCA), Kuki Students' Organization Sadar Hills, Kuki Women Union Sadar Hills, etc.
under the aegis of Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi district held a marathon joint meeting today at Kangpokpi DHQs.
In the meeting the Kuki bodies congratulated both the NSCN-IM and Govt of India for progressing towards the final deal and in bringing about a peaceful solution to the Naga political demands and at the same time cautioned that the Government of India must safeguard the interest of other stake holders particularly the Kukis of Manipur, lest the much cherished Framework Agreement (FA) of one community ignites undesirable impact elsewhere.
The Kuki bodies also reminded the Government of India to take into account certain terms and conditions in no uncertain terms, before sealing the final agreement with the NSCN-IM while making their stand very clear that under no circumstances the final settlement with the NSCN-IM should infringe upon the Kuki dominated areas of Manipur, and should not even be a topic of discussion.
"Not an inch of Kuki dominated areas should come under the ambit of the Framework Agreement or the proposed Naga Autonomous administrative set up in Manipur", asserted Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi district, general secretary Lamminlun Singsit.
He also stated that while both the parties, ie the NSCN-IM and Government of India will have the final talk tomorrow they must clearly understand that the existing boundaries under the jurisdiction of Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council (SHADC) should not be altered or diminished in anyway.
The Government of India must treat the Naga issue and Kuki issue of Manipur fairly as both are stakeholders in each other's political aspirations.
Therefore, "an honourable solution for the Nagas in Manipur should be simultaneous with a respectable solution for the Kukis of Manipur", he added.
He also asked the Government of India to expedite without any further delay and strike a final deal with the emissaries of the Kuki people, ie the UPF and KNO in bringing about a respectable solution in the form of a Territorial Council for the Kukis.
"The Kukis are prepared and willing to defend their territorial integrity till the last drop of their blood", he maintained.
