Culmination of plot to bifurcate Manipur : CorCom

Imphal, May 23 2023:
The CorCom has alleged that the current crisis besieging Manipur is the culmination of a long planned sinister plot to bifurcate Manipur (Kangleipak) by the Indian Government through some divisive elements.
A statement issued by the CorCom Publicity Committee maintained that deploying more Indian Army in the name of suppressing the present crisis among the brotherhood is not for the protection of the life and economy of the common people, it is just for adding more fuel to the burning communal fire.
The present incident is not between the two communities.
The ongoing crisis is aimed at dividing Manipur (Kangleipak) through clever manipulations of the Central Government by giving logistic support through puppet politicians and occupational forces to their henchmen who targeted the life of the innocent people of other communities, CorCom said.
Some few days back, a video clip taken by a drone and broadcasted in a local TV channel showed armed people (used by Assam Rifles) being transported from their camp by the Assam Rifles and planned to attack Meetei villages near Pukhao, Imphal East, it alleged.
At first, people of Manipur (Kangleipak) were very thankful for deploying many security forces in the hope that they would protect them and control the present incident but their action seems to be contradictory.
The security forces convinced the people to feel secure saying that "We are here for you.
We will save you.
Sleep well.
We will protect you" .
However, the incidents of burning houses and huts by armed militants have been happening in front of the Indian military forces.
Therefore, helpless villagers were mobilizing themselves to protect themselves day and night, it said.
At this crucial juncture, while the people of the hills and valley are suffering from shortage of necessary commodities, the question arises how armed looters waylaid goods laden trucks along the highways with the security personnel who were supposed to protect the trucks doing nothing, the CorCom said.
It then appealed to all the people to remain vigilant as the activities of detractors to destroy Manipur (Kangleipak) will not stop that easily as the Central Government has been allegedly sponsoring them.
The key to ending the present imbroglio is in the hands of the ethnic communities of Manipur (Kangleipak), it said.
The unfortunate predicament about the present generation of Manipur is the obsession of some sections of the society with the illusion of the ''Constitutional safeguard'' of the Indian Constitution.
What they fail to understand is that there is no foolproof safeguard under the Indian Constitution, as the Indian Constitution is flexible.
It can be amended many times to suit the interests of mainland political practitioners which was amply shown by the special status of Kashmir being shredded into pieces, it continued.
Only the Constitution of an independent Manipur (Kangleipak) can safeguard the people and fulfil the aspirations of the diverse ethnic communities, the CorCom asserted.
"If we do not fight to regain our lost Nation, we will all perish by falling prey to lies and deceit of the destructive elements and the Indian Government", it added.
