India cannot develop without progress in NE: DoNER Minister

Seeing Northeast India as a gateway to progress for the country, MoS B L Verma on Monday said that the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region and Minister (DoNER) has allocated funds and projects for the development of North Eastern states.
The MoS Co-operation and DoNER made the statement during the inauguration programme of Bharathimana Fisherman Development Co-operative Ltd Bharathimanaco office at Kha Potshangbam ground in Bishnupur district.
B L Verma expressed his hope that the co-operative would work for the welfare of the people and lauded the Prime Minister for his vision in appointing suitable Ministers to strengthen the co-operative movement.

"As announced on September 25, the Government has been working to increase the number of Co-operative societies to 3 lakh to reduce the number of unemployment and uplift the weaker section of the society", he asserted.
The MoS continued that the Government had already allocated funds for development of fisheries in the valley districts of Manipur under NCDC while adding that funds of more than Rs 30 crore had also been sectioned for development of piggery in Kangpokpi.
B L Verman further mentioned that the BJP Government under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi has initiated various programmes and allocated funds for the North Eastern states as the country cannot progress without first developing the region.
The programme was attended by MoS DoNER B L Verman; Udhay Joshi, National general secretary Sahakar Bharati All India; Sanjay Pachppor, National organising secretary Sahakar Bharati All India and Umesh Pachappan, governing body member National Fisherman Development Board, Government of India as presidium members.
