CM's ultimatum galvanises road work

Close on the heels of the Chief Minister Okram ibobi Singh castigating Works Minister K Ranjit and top officials of various department for the inordinate delay in completing the repairing work of RIMS Road, related activities have resumed in full swing from late evening yesterday.
RIMS road has been under repair for years since it was dug up for laying the Imphal Sewerage Project pipes.
hours after the Chief Minister slammed the Works Minister for lack of initiative in completing the RIMS Road along with a firm instruction to complete black-topping work within five days, information has been received here that K Ranjit personally supervised road development work till late in the night.
The CM's fury also triggered hectic activities from top officials of PWD and PHED who remained at the work site till the wee hours today.
The road development work is being carried out with men and machination synergy with officials conveying that there would be no leniency to ensure completion of the assigned task at the earliest possible time.

They conceded that working during daytime is causing problem to the workers for RIMS Road is used by a large number of vehicles due to location of various health care centres as well as the route serving as an important transit point.
Asserting that the CM's directive to complete the road development work within five days is a realistic target, the officials confided that related work is being carried out round the clock with the deployment of labourers on night and day batch basis.
For information of all concerned, the officials said passage through RIMS Road from the western side will remain totally prohibited while entry along the route from Nagamapal side would also be restricted.
With the assistance of City Police personnel exit and entry points from residential areas would be sealed for vehicles.
