House condoles demised personalities

The Manipur Legislative Assembly has today condoled the demise of former Lok Sabha Speaker Balram Jhakar, former Governor of the State KV Krishna Rao, Manipur Territorial Council Member Laishangbam Ibomcha, MLA Loitongbam Sarat and MLA Atomba Ngairangbamcha.
In his obituary reference, leader of the House and Chief Minister O Ibobi stated that veteran Congressman Balram Jhakar who held the post of Lok Sabha Speaker for two consecutive terms expired on February 3 .
Former Chief of Army Staff General KV Krishna Rao who also held the posts of Governors of Manipur and Jammu & Kashmir expired on January 30 .
Laishangbam Ibomcha who was elected to the Manipur Territorial Council from Bishnupur in 1967 and went on to become its Deputy Speaker passed away on February 9 .
Former PDA Chairman Loitongbam Sarat who was elected from Singjamei A/C on MPP ticket in 1972 breathed his last on February 17 .
Atomba Ngairangbamcha who was elected from Khurai A/C twice and went on to become Deputy Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly expired on February 20, Ibobi informed the House.
While conveying solidarity to the bereaved families, the leader of the House prayed that the departed souls may rest in peace in the heavenly abode.
MLA Kh Joykishan, PHE Minister I Hemochandra, MPCB Chairman Dr Ng Bijoy, YAS Parliamentary Secretary M Prithiviraj and Speaker Th Lokeshore also made obituary reference to the departed representatives and executives.
Later, the House observed silence for two minutes in honour of all
the departed souls.
