Imphal, January 22 2022:
The National Revolutionary Front Manipur (NRFM) has called a Statewide bandh from 1 am of Jan 26 to 5 pm of January 27 as a mark of resistance and to boycott Republic Day.
In a statement signed by Sanajaoba Meitei, information and publicity secretary of the party, NRFM said the Indian Government and its Constitution has never given peace to the people of the State during the last 73 years and alleged that there is a systematic plan to over-run the societal set-up of minority communities living in the State.
NRFM also alleged that the Indian Government has been indulging in either use of force or offering money or both to some selected leaders of the State, which is a part of India's larger plan to subdue the people.
The statement added that the Constitution enables the bifurcation or further division of States thereby destroying the ancient boundary as seen recently in Jammu & Kashmir which has been bifurcated to create Ladakh.
The fear that the same might happen to Manipur has run large amongst the people of the State since it was made part of the Indian union, added the statement.
Such provisions in the Indian Constitution are not only against the spirit of independence but also serve as a means to shred the existing history of communities, NRFM alleged in the statement.
The Statewide bandh will not cover essential services and media, added the statement.
