PS Patel launches 7 food products

Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries and Jal Shakti Prahlad Singh Patel launched seven indigenous food products today at the conference hall of the Old Secretariat, Imphal.
The indigenous food products are Black Rice Ladoo, Black Rice Fruit & Nut Cookies, Hot and Spicy Bhujia, Kabok Mixture, Manipuri Casava Burfi, Bamboo Shoot Muraba and Fig Laddoo.
Textiles, Commerce and Industries Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh, who is also Chairman of the Manipur Food Industries Corporation Limited (MFICL) also attended the function.
At the function, Prahlad Singh Patel said that there is great demand for Indian goods including those from the North East States from across the globe.

"However, our main concern is maintaining the quality of manufactured goods," he said.
Emphasizing on the importance of proper packaging and branding in marketing manufactured items, the MoS lauded the MFICL for the quality packaging of the newly launched items.
Further highlighting the importance of maintaining quality, the MoS said that clusters and individuals involved in running food processing enterprises should not compromise with the quality of their products.
He also said that products made from the materials available in the North East are in high demand inside and outside the country and advised the people engaged in the food processing sector to write detailed information of their products in the packages.
Biswajit said that MFICL will launch more products in future.
Delivering the welcome speech, MFICL Managing Director Peter Salam said that MFICL, under the initiative of Biswajit, implemented a project "Incubation Lab" in collaboration with TQS Global, Ghaziabad with a budget of Rs 10 lakh to promote indigenous food products.
He said labelling and packaging of the products are being done at Imphal, Delhi and Mumbai.
Today's function was also attended by MFICL vice chairman K Saratkumar Singh, officials and members concerned of Leimalel Food, AMI Food Products and Vedam Agro Enterprises, which had developed the products launched today.
