Imphal, January 21 2025: Lok Sabha MP Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam has urged Chief Minister N Biren Singh to convene an all political party meeting and also seek an appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to work out a possible solution to the crisis besetting Manipur.

In a video message, Dr Bimol said that the Statehood Day celebrated today is bittersweet and sombre as Manipur has been going through a difficult period since May 3, 2023 .

The relation between the Centre and the State which prevails in Manipur today is highly questionable, the MP said and added that the implications of the Constitution has become a big question at least in contemporary Manipur .

Saying that all political party meetings were convened on numerous occasions in the past when any crisis engulfed Manipur, he appealed to the Chief Minister to convene an all political party meeting as soon as possible to take a concrete resolution in the interest of the people and place the resolutions of the meeting to the Prime Minister together.

Seek an appointment to meet the Prime Minister to resolve the crisis, he further appealed to the Chief Minister.

Saying that the movement seeking full Statehood of Manipur started in the 1950, he added that the movement was successful as it was a collective voice of the people of Manipur.

It is unfortunate that Manipur is in complete mess today and the situation which has been gripping the State will be scripted in history, Dr Bimol said and added that a collective effort is needed to carry forward the legacy of Manipur.

Delivering random and inconsistent statements on the Manipur crisis won't bring any solution other than wasting time, he said and asked the Government to understand the plight of the people and put in sincere efforts to resolve the crisis.

He also said that mounting pressure on the Central leadership and serious intervention of the Centre are what people genuinely want to end the conflict.

Putting all the blame for the crisis on the past Governments is not the answer, he said and added that a path to resolve the crisis will appear when the Government shows commitment.

He also expressed desire for the Chief Minister to work sincerely as the leader of the State to restore normalcy.

Take a concrete actions instead of delivering lip service, the MP appealed to the Chief Minister.
