Imphal, December 20 2011:
BJP president Nitin Gadkari has asserted that the BJP never mixes politics with religion nor stood against minority Muslims.
Addressing a press meet at Hotel Classic here this morning, Nitin Gadkari stated that the Congress party has been continuously spreading the false propaganda that BJP is anti-Muslim.
"But the fact is that all religions, castes and creeds are equal in the eyes of BJP", he stated.
Politics is not about exercising power alone.
Politics is more about bringing social justice, socio-economic development and implementing welfare programmes for the public.
It would be wrong to interpret politics as some sort of a business enterprise, he explained.
To a query whether BJP would go for pre-poll alliance with regard to the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly elections, the BJP president stated that negotiation with the MPP to form a pre-poll alliance has been progressing.
Stating that the BJP has been working on a long term vision for rapid development of the whole North East region including Manipur, Nitin Gadkari elaborated that BJP has adopted holistic development formula which would emphasise on bringing economic justice, social justice, development of transport infrastructure including National Highways, full exploitation of tourism potentials and installation of modern sports infrastructure in Manipur.
All the cases of corruption and graft committed by the Congress led Governments in Manipur and at the Centre would be thoroughly investigated when BJP comes to power at the Centre.
BJP would take pro-active roles in raising and debating in the Parliament major issues related to Manipur as and when they break out.
He confided that he has been consulting with BJP leaders to save the life of Irom Sharmila and also to resolve the issue of AFSPA.
