Archives week held

The 38th Archives Week Celebration cum Record Exhibition organised by Manipur State Archive, Directorate of Art and Culture, Government of Manipur was held at JNNRUM Community Hall, Kakching Sumak Leikai today .
Yengkhom Surchandra, MLA Kakching AC, Prof Naorem Joykumar Singh, Naorem Gandhar Singh, retd Principal Nambol L Sanoi College, Prof Naorem Ibotombi Singh, retd Principal Kha Manipur College Kakching attended the event as presidium members .
Md Abul Kalam, Deputy Director, Manipur State Archive speaking on the occasion pointed out the importance of maintaining the State Archive which provides an insight to the history of the State and its affairs .
Yengkhom Surchandra Singh appealed the private collectors of historical records to contribute and donate relics to the State Archive so that everyone may access and gain valuable knowledge .
As a part of the archives week celebration, records/documents dating back to British era in the State were displayed for public view.
Records showing the proceedings of Manipur State Durbar, resolutions of the durbar, diaries of the British political officers, reports on administration maintained by the British, tour diaries of British political agents, case files on Rani Gaidinliu, Wangkhei Meiraba, maintained by the British were displayed to the public .
Manipur State Archive was established in 1981 .
