'Miss Spring 2019' decorated with Tangkhul attires

Ukhrul, October 19 2019: The winner of Miss Spring 2019 Chanchui Khayi was decorated with Tangkhul costumes as a part of promoting Tangkhul traditional culture and customes and for the preservation and exposure of Tangkhul rich fabric costumes.

Chanchui Khayi, who is a native of Teinem village, Ukhrul, was crowned the coveted title 'Miss Spring' at TNL ground, Wino Bazar.

The crowned Miss Spring was dressed in a complete Tangkhul traditional costumes wearing Phangyai Kashan cloth wrapped around her belly and the chest portion with black colour cotton cloth called 'Sup' in Tangkhul dialect.

She also wore Kongsang, Kommashim, Tingting Seoseo, Har all around her body, which is a complete set of Tangkhul dress for a woman.

The beauty pageant was conducted with three rounds of contest - designer fusion round, designer gown round and traditional round and the contestants walked the ram wearing different designer outfits on the stage.

Speaking to this correspondent at the sidelines of the beauty pageant contest, convener of Miss Spring contest expressed that the beauty pageant is also one of the vital component of Shirui lily festival.

The programme was organised by Indigenous Foundation under the banner "Beauty for Humanity" with the objective to promote women of the state at different arenas such as empowering them in different activities, environment and health issues and on the top of that, the winner of the beauty pageant will be branded as 'ambassador for social issues' .

An amount of Rs 3 lakh would be awarded to winner of the contest while Rs 1 lakh is reserved for the 'Miss Spring' to conduct or carry out awareness and sensitisation programme on various aspects of social issues for the peoples.

According to the convener, beauty pageant 'Miss Spring 2019' is sponsored by North East Council, Ministry of DoNER, GoI under Fashion show of North East Region, North East Cultural programme and Festival.

It may be mentioned that the crowned 'Miss Spring 2019', Chanchui Khayi is also the 1st runner-up in Miss North East India 2019.Other title of the pageant contest such as Miss Humility went to Gaisinglungliu A pamei, Miss Photogenic to Yuiranam Zimik, Miss Beautiful Hair to T Dorothy, Miss Pheithei Pangthei to Payuri Gachui, Miss Beautiful Skin to Worsophy Vashingnao, Miss Beautiful Smile to Undana Leimapokbam, Miss Perfect Body to Wungchanphy Lungleng, Miss Talented to Pretty Inkah, Miss Graceful Walk to Maria Pangambam.

Meanwhile, 22 rock bands from different parts of North East India performed for the Shirock rock contest at Bakshi ground.

They performed on their own composed songs.

The winner of the Shirock 2019 will perform with the American Rock band 'Extreme' on the closing day of Shirock 2019 organised by Dept of Tourism, GoM.
