7 police vehicles damaged

Imphal, August 19 2015:
Atleast seven police gypsys have been damaged after people attacked a police team who went to Lairikyengbam Leikai to arrest the six youth who have been staging indefinite hunger strike at round 1 am today.
However, the large police team, led by Imphal West Additional SP (Law and Order) Dr S Ibomcha and Imphal West Additional SP (Operations) Thokchom Vikramjit, managed to pull up the hunger strikers from a large group of people who were blocking their way.
The police vehicles were damaged as youth of the locality attacked the police team by pelting stones and thrashing the vehicles with stick and bamboo.
Vehicles allotted to Imphal West SDPO and Lamphel OC suffered major damages in the incident.
The arrested hunger strikers have been identified as Sumanta Monoharmayum (21) of Sekta Mayai Leikai, Romendrajit Moirangcha (31) of Heikrujam Mamang Leikai, Yumnam Langdaiba (22) of Langol Housing Complex, Tenison Akoijam (31) of Uri-pok Sinam Leikai, Dipeshore Lairikyengbam (21) of New Checkon, Haorokcham Jem-son (20) of Awang Khunou.
They have been staging indefinite hunger strike demanding implementation of ILPS in the State in a temporary shed erected at Lairik- yengbam Leikai by the JAC formed in connection with the death of Sapam Robinhood since August 16 .
On the otherhand, four persons have begun indefinite hunger strike at the same venue on the same demand from today.
They have been identified as Waikhom Modhuchandra (58) of Khabam, Thokchom Murphy (27) of Larikyengbam Leikai, Laishram Rameshore of Lairikyengbam Leikai and Oinam Sanjit (32) of Moirang Lamkhai.
