EEVFAM visits Robinhood's family

Members of Extra-Judicial Execution Victim Families Association (EEVFAM) have visited the family of Sapam Robinhood and interacted with them along with members of the JAC constituted against the death of the young student.
Speaking at a press conference, EEVFAM president Renu Takhellembam said that JAC members told them that the JAC requires EEVFAM's assistance in pressing the Government for justice regarding Robinhood's death.
She said that EEVFAM assured the JAC to extend all possible assistance regarding the matter.
On the otherhand, EEVFAM hailed the Supreme Court directive served on the Centre, Manipur Government and the National Human Rights Commission to submit a comprehensive report on alleged fake encounter cases in the State, including 62 such cases where FIRs have not even been lodged.
Advocate Basanta Wareppa, who assisted EEVFAM and Human Right Alert in filing these petitions, said that hearing of the fake encounter case number 129 of 2012 was conducted before the division bench of Justice Madan B Lokur and Justice Uday Umesh Lalit on July 13 .
During the day, the division bench directed the respondents to submit a comprehensive report on alleged fake encounter cases in the State, including 62 such cases where FIRs have not even been lodged, he said.
On the other hand, Basanta Wareppa said, the final hearing of the six cases, which have been forwarded by Supreme Court appointed Justice Santosh Hedge led three-member panel, is likely to be held on August 3 .
Expressing hope that the victim families would get justice soon, Basanta Wareppa said that they are expecting a positive verdict from the Court.
He added that the division bench has asked Additional Solicitor General Maninder Singh, representing the Centre, and the lawyers of NHRC and the State Government to provide requisite information to the amicus curiae who, in turn, will prepare a comprehensive chart of cases for the perusal of Court.
Speaking to the reporters, HRA Director Babloo Loitongbam said that HRA and EEVFAM would provide all possible assistance to the JAC constituted against the death of Sapam Robinhood in their pursuit of justice.
