Airport drug haul case Charge hearing continues

Imphal, January 17 2017:
Continuous charge hearing of the Airport drug haul case was held today at the Special Court of Narcotics Drug and Psychotropic Substances at Lamphelpat.
The alleged accused in the case are Okram Henry, Sapam Angus @ Naoba @ Nanao, Md Rajauddin and two non-locals Ramveer Tyagi and Rajneesh Kumar who are pharmacy proprietors from Ghaziabad.
Three of the accused O Henry and the two non-locals whom the CBI Special Crime Branch, Kolkata filed chargesheets in connection with the case failed to appear before the Court.
After hearing both the counsels of the case, the Court directed the CBI counsel to submit gazette notification from Government of India regarding his submission on the next date of the charge hearing to be held on February 6 .
It may be mentioned that on April 18 last year, CBI Special Crime Branch, Kolkata filed a chargesheet bearing Number 6 of 2016 by BB Chakravarty, DSP CBI Special Crime Branch for offense punishable under Section 21/25(A)/29/32 of ND & PS Act and under 120(b)/420/468/471 and 506 of IPC against the accused.
On January 11 of 2013, a team of Special Intelligence Unit (SIU) under the supervision of the then Inspector K Ranjit seized seven numbers of unattended carton boxes suspected to contain contraband drugs at Imphal International Airport, which were transported from Kolkata.
