Bomb blast in Thoubal

Imphal, November 16 2012: A powerful IED which was suspected to have been planted by UGs to target security personnel went off along NH-2 (Imphal-Moreh Road) at Thoubal Haokha this morning.

No one was hurt in the blast.

The incident occurred at around 9:30 am today near Maipak Junior High School located along Imphal-Moreh road at Thoubal Haokha.

According to reports culled from the site of the incident, the blast occurred just after an Army convoy coming from Imphal passed the spot.

The convoy left the spot without giving a halt.

According to police reports, the bomb was believed to have been triggered through a remote control device.

Soon after the report of the blast reached, a team of Thoubal Police rushed in to the spot and investigated into the matter.

An extensive search was also conducted to find out other possible bombs.

But no bomb could be found.

No UG group has claimed responsibility for blast till the time of filing this report.
