Imphal, August 16 2013 :
The Coordination Committee (CorCom) of the proscribed KCP, KYKL, PREPAK, PREPAK (PRO), RPF and UNLF has claimed responsibility for the IED blasts at City Convention Centre on August 14, Yaiskul and Porompat on August 15 and also for the IED blast at Minou which targeted troops of 9th AR this morning.
CorCom and other revolutionary groups of Western Southeast Asia (WESEA) called a general strike on August 15 and boycotted the Indian Independence Day in defiance of the Government of India's design to project the region as an integral part of India while keeping its people under eternal suppression.
Observing that large majority of the people of Manipur by and large stayed away from Indian Independence Day celebrations, the CorCom conveyed gratitude to the people for completely boycotting the Independence Day.
On account of continuously boycotting the Indian Independence Day year after year, its celebration has become farcical in the region at the best, the committee remarked through a press statement issued by its media coordinator H Poirei.
Still the adamant design of Ministers, MLAs and top-ranking officials to observe Indian Independence Day somehow with the help of Indian military and Manipur Police even if it is just for name sake is a big challenge to the common people.
Quoting the Chief Minister O Ibobi's statement that "not an inch of Manipur's territory has been lost on account of the border fencing work and we are free citizens of independent India", the CorCom remarked that these statements are sheer sycophancy.
Similar statements made by Ministers and MLAs on Patriots' Day (August 13) openly derided the national history apart from belittling the heroes and martyrs.
For such acts of arrogance, people would definitely take them to task one day or another.
On the other hand, the bomb attacks carried out by CorCom on the eve of I-Day and after were clear evidences of the people's stiff opposition to the alien rule, it asserted.
