Imphal, June 16 2021:
The BJP State unit has demanded the Manipur Pradesh Congress Congress to stop politicisng the Covid pandemic immediately.
In a video message, vice-president of BJP State unit, Ch Chidananda Singh stated that MPCC president K Govindas demanding a public apology from Chief Minister N Biren Singh for the remark he made a few days ago is groundless.
It may be mentioned that MPCC president K Govindas had on Tuesday demanded an apology from Chief Minister N Biren Singh for his alleged remark on free ration, vaccines etc.
Saying that the BJP condemns the allegation raised by MPCC, Chidananada continued that there is nothing in the comments of the Chief Minister that needs apology.
The remark made by the Chief Minister was a response to the petty politics of the Congress party, Chidananda said and added that it is Congress that needs to apologise to the public.
Demanding the Congress to stop politicising the Covid issue immediately, he urged the MPCC to stop confusing people by engaging in cheap politics.
Responding to the charge levelled by MPCC pertaining to price hike of petroleum products, Chidananda said that the price of petroleum products was decentralised based on resolutions taken by Congress before BJP came to power.
It is fortunate that the MPCC furnished a record of taxes collected from petroleum products from 2017 to till date, he maintained and claimed that the Congress, which governed the State for 3 consecutive terms left behind an outstanding liability of over Rs 8000 crore.
Stating that 30-40 percent of the State budget for two financial years have been spent on Covid management, he said that Chief Minister N Biren Singh is committed to helping the poor.
He also said that the Congress party has been rejected in many States and the party might even vanish anytime.
