Govt mulls home delivery

A high level meeting presided by Chief Minister N Biren today discussed about home delivery of essential commodities in view of the protracted lockdown which has been extended till May 3.The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary, the DGP, Administrative Secretaries, Deputy Commissioners of Imphal West and Imphal East districts and officials of the Chamber of Commerce.
The meeting discussed about home delivery of essential commodities in Imphal West and Imphal East districts through selected agencies.
The agencies too highlighted the difficulties they encounter in home delivery of goods.
Subsequently, the Chief Minister directed officials concerned to open an office of the Chamber of Commerce at Khwairamband Keithel together with a call centre so as to ensure that home delivery agencies have access to all essential commodities.
The meeting further discussed about issuing a special pass to home delivery agencies.
On the other hand, a meeting of Administrative Secretaries held yesterday with the Chief Secretary in the chair decided that the Principal Secretary (Horticulture & Soil Conservation) and the Commissioner (Agriculture) should take up necessary steps for home delivery of vegetables.
All Administrative Secretaries were also asked to initiate necessary steps to ensure 100 per cent office attendance by group A officers and 50 per cent attendance by staff belonging to other groups from April 20 .
Meanwhile, it is reported that movement of trucks transporting goods into the State would be recorded at Jiribam and Mao.
