Imphal, January 16 2020:
Necessary re-survey for construction of Imphal Ring Road (which will be constructed under the funding of Asian Development Bank) will commence from next week.
According to an official source, ADB Chief General Manager Vidyananda met Chief Minister N Biren Singh today morning to discuss about the project.
Y Joykumar, who is handling the external aided project of the Works Department, was also present as well.
The source explained that the meeting was convened to ensure swift start of the project and also to discuss the need for certain adjustments at Khabam Lamkhai.
The project has already been approved by the Ministry of Finance.
The source explained that the work on the Ring Road has been pending as the State Government should produce Rs 95 lakh for updating the project's DPR (it was prepared way back in 2015) and the State Government still has to cough up Rs 8.5 crore for the Imphal-Kangchup-Tamenglong road.
During the meeting, the CM assured the ADB Chief General Manager that a revised budget for the project will be included in the forthcoming budget session of the State Assembly and as such, the re-alignment survey of the Ring Road will resume from next week, the source concluded.
