Imphal, January 16, 2011:
Mirel Mashing-gha', a production of Kanglei Mime Theatre Repertory will be staged on January 21 at Delhi's Sri Ram Centre, where the 13th Bharat Ranga Mahotsav (Theatre Festival) organised by National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi is currently on.
The festival had begun on January 8. Speaking to newspersons at his Yumnam Leikai residence today Director of the theatre group Yumnam Sadananda stated that Mirel Mashing-gha' will be the first mime play to be staged at a National level theatre festival organised by the NSD.
Further informing that over 400 theatre groups had applied for participation at the Bharat Ranga Mahotsav, considered to be one of the country's grandest event, the director maintained that Kanglei Mime Theatre Repertory's Mirel Mashing-ga' is the only mime play among 70 groups approved by the festival's selection committee.
Led by the Director himself, artistes of the theatre group will leave Imphal on January 18 to stage Mirel Mashing-ga' a mime play which is based on the relentless campaign by irom Chanu Sharmila for complete withdrawal of the draconian Armed Forces' Special Powers Act 1958 from Manipur.
The mime play is to be staged on the 19th day of the Festival at 4.30 pm.
Responding to a scribe's poser, Sadananda said Mirel Mashing-ga' has already been staged at the Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Festival organised by Mahindra Company at New Delhi's Sri Ram Centre in March last year after the play was dedicated to the State audience at some places.
