Imphal, February 14 2013:
One individual who reportedly asked and took money for appointment of Meitei Mayek teachers in Government schools has been pulled up by MEELAL.
Speaking to media persons at their office today, MEELAL president Sadokpam Tomba Mangang said that the fraud was pulled up following complaints made by some Meitei Mayek teachers who were appointed in the form of voluntary service.
Former ZEO Zone-4 Gopimohon Maibam issued an order in May last year and recruited nine Meitei Mayek teachers on the basis of voluntary service for some schools of Bishnupur district.
The particular order claimed that the MEELAL head-office was located in Bishnupur district.
There were cases when Meitei Mayek teachers were appointed on voluntary basis without taking any money under an understanding between School Education Department and MEELAL, Tomba said.

Whatever amount collected by Konthoujam Brojendro of Konthoujam Mamang Leikai should be reimbursed to MEELAL by February 23 for distribution to the victimised teachers.
Brojendro said that he went scouting for prospective Meitei Mayek teachers and took money from them based on the words of Dealing Assistant Ingel posted in ZEO Zone-I that some Meitei Mayek teachers would be appointed on voluntary service but their service would be regularised after sometime.
He further disclosed that he collected Rs 20,000 each from four persons and Rs 11,000 each from two persons and these amounts were given to Ingel.
Out of these amounts, Brojendro received a small percentage.
Keeping faith in the DA's words, Brojendro himself joined as a Meitei Mayek teacher on voluntary basis at Konthoujam Lairembi Government High School, he confided.
