Imphal, December 13 2024:
One of the noted intellectuals of Manipur who is also a former MP (Rajya Sabha) and former MLA, BD Behring has appealed to the State Government to consider releasing the salaries & allowances/monthlypensionof its employees ahead of schedule, in view of the upcoming Christmas celebration on December 25, 2024.In a release, BD Behring said that just as the State Government of Manipur released advance pay & allowances/monthly pension for October 2024 on account of the Ningol Chakouba festival vide an order dated October 24, the Government should consider doing the same for the upcoming Christmas celebration.
He asserted that Christmas is one of the most important festivals for the Christian community, and many employees in the State look forward to celebrating this occasion with their families and loved ones.
He mentioned that releasing salaries early would greatly assist employees in making necessary arrangements for the festival.
"We believe that this gesture would not only bring joy and relief to the employees but will also help to contribute to the overall State's festive spirit.
Furthermore, it would show the Government's commitment to the welfare and well-being of its employees", he added.
The former MP also urged the Consumer Affairs Department, Government of Manipur to monitor and control the price hike of commodities during the Christmas season.
"It has been observed in previous years that prices of essential commodities such as food items, decorations, dresses & gifts, etc tend to increase exorbitantly during the Christmas season.
This price hike causes undue hardship to the common people, especially those from low-income backgrounds", he added.
Furthermore, he expressed hope that the State Government would take prompt action in this matter to ensure a joyful and stress-free Christmas celebration for all.
"As the Christmas Season of 2024 approaches, I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Christmas full of hope, joy and peace", said BD Behring.
