Moirang, October 13 2024:
Severe shortage of staff and facilities have forced locals to lock Kwakta Primary Health Centre (PHC) .
The move came after 5 civil bodies in Kwakta had served an ultimatum to the Government authorities to send the required staff and medical equipment and supply to the PHC by October 12 .
The organisations include Anjuman Islah-E- Muashara, All Kwakta Co-ordinating Committee, All Kwakta Youth Voluntary Organisation, All Meitei Pangal Youth Association and Jamiatul Ulama, Bishnupur district.
Even as the organisations went ahead with its agitation and plan to lock the institution, many who visited the PHC today were unable to get much needed medical attention.
The PHC at present lacks staff including doctors and nurses, and many medical facilities.
Reportedly, the representatives of the organisations were scheduled to meet Government authorities on the issue this afternoon.
The organisations said they would call off the stir if an agreement is reached with the Government authorities.
In case there is no agreement, the organisations would launch more stringent agitation, they said.
