Imphal, July 13 2021:
Transporters and Drivers Council (TDC) has applauded Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and Chief Minister N Biren Singh for inaugurating an up todate Makru Bridge on Monday.
Speaking to media persons, TDC president H Ranjit stated that a new chapter has been opened for the people of Manipur with the inauguration of this modern bridge.
Saying that the TDC has been pressing the Government to upgrade Makru, Barak and Irang Bridges to the standard fit for National Highways since years and their aspiration has been realised with the inauguration of Makru Bridge, he exuded confidence that Irang and Barak Bridges would also be inaugurated shortly.
He also thanked Nitin Gadkari for pressing the agency to complete Irang and Barak Bridges projects at the earliest.
Ranjit, on the other hand, drew the attention of the Chief Minister to ramp up the construction works of Barak Bridge as more vehicles would start operating on the highway stretch and to upgrade the bailey bridge at Nung Dolan to RCC bridge.
Expressing optimism that the inauguration of Makru Bridge will solve the inconvenience being faced by the transporters, he urged the Chief Minister to press the Centre for early completion of the remaining bridges and to implement other bridge projects at the earliest.
H Ranjit also appealed to all to not cause any trouble/disturbances to the construction works of Barak and Irang Bridges.
