Investigation Officer in the case of Irom Chanu Sharmila's alleged attempt to commit suicide has deposed before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West Court during a trial case hearing today.
Sharmila also appeared before the CJM, Imphal West today during the case.
She was brought to Cheirap Court Complex from the security ward of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences where she is presently lodged.
A lady police officer of City Police station today appeared as the last prosecution witness.
The Court fixed October 26 for the next hearing.
Speaking to media persons soon after she stepped out from the Court room, Sharmila said that it was very unfortunate that she was kept to wait for a vehicle to pick her up for about three hours at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport recently.
She also alleged that the Court of Metropolitan had not honoured her right to expression as a citizen.
Sharmila expressed her desire to carry out a plebiscite regarding her agitation while asking how long she would go on like this.
She also said that in America, one Chinese painter held a seven month long art exhibition and as a result of that event, she received more than 8 thousand post cards showing support to her struggle.
Sharmila said that she might have achieved her goal of repealing AFSPA from the State had the people truly supported her cause.
The trial today was conducted in connection with a charge sheet filed before the Court by City police station a few months back.
Sharmila was formally arrested by a team of City Police station from JNIMS security ward on January 24, 2015 under FIR number 12 (1) 2015 City PS under Section 309 IPC following the deterioration of her health as she continued her fast soon after she was released by JMIC Imphal East on Jan 22, 2015 .
