Imphal, September 12 2024:
Salai Apunba Nupi Lamjing Lup (SANULAL) celebrated its 19th Foundation Day at Singjamei Chingamakha Kshetri Leikai community hall today.
The celebration was graced by Khaidem Mani, Sr Advocate and former Acting Chairperson of MHRC; Lourembam Nganbi, president, AMKIL; Thingnam Ibethoi, president, SANULAL and Prof Chinglen Maisnam of Manipur University as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Khaidem Mani alleged that by removing the chairmanship of United Command and the authority to maintain law & order from the Chief Minister, the Government of India is playing with the CM just like they did with Maharaja Bodhachandra before the signing of the merger agreement.
He asserted that one of the main reason behind the anger among the students and youths is.
the manner in which the Government of India has made the CM a mere figure head without any power or authority during this crucial juncture where many forces are threatening the territorial integrity of Manipur.
He continued that if the Government of India does not consider the aspirations & sentiments of the people and take necessary actions to protect Manipur, the State may witness a massive uprising of the people unlike any before in the past.
He also said that it is high time for the State Government to wake up and do everything possible including pressuring the Central Government to protect innocent civilians and territorial integrity of Manipur.
Khaidem Mani also appealed to all the 50 MLAs irrespective of their political affiliations to serve an ultimatum to the Government of India to take appropriate action against those threatening the integrity of Manipur and end the conflict at the earliest.
Denouncing the recent aerial bombing using high tech drones and rockets/ missiles in the valley districts of Manipur by Kuki terrorists, Lourembam Nganbi said that if the Government of India cannot protect innocent civilians from these terrorists, the people will be forced to demand the pre-merger status of Manipur and find ways to protect themselves from these attacks.
She also urged all to stop the infighting and work together under a common goal to protect the territorial integrity of Manipur.
Akoijam Shanti Devi, general secretary of SANULAL also spoke on the occasion.
