Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup continued its drive to check sale of hand sanitizers which do not have or meet the required compositions, in wake of the COVID-19 crisis.
Today's drive was conducted at Thangal Keithel and MG Avenue and hand sanitizers, a statement of AIMS said.
With the volunteers detecting many hand sanitizer products by renown companies lacking required ingredients and prescribed percentages of the ingredients, AIMS also expressed suspicion of a gang running the sanitizer business which has been booming due to COVID-19 outbreak.
They were even found to be selling at hotels, grocery shops rather than chemist shops.
Readings on labels attached to the hand sanitizers were either found to differ with the percentage of the ingredients when checked or the ingredients were found missing, it said.
Seeking intervention of the authorities concerned, the student bodies stated that written complaints will also be submitted.
The products under the name, Total, Joysafe, Himalayan Aroma, Affaltus and Intra Life (Intraclean), which were found to be missing the required ingredients were also seized during today's drive today, it said.
AIMS also urged all sections of the society to be cautious while buying hand sanitizers and further informed that interested persons can also check the ingredients at the AIMS office.
It also appealed to those who are vending hand sanitizers to be very careful and knowledgeable about the products they are selling and check whether they meet the essential quality or the necessary ingredients are present.
