Liquor manufacturing unit busted at Thoubal Athokpam

Thoubal, September 12 2019: Acting on an specific input from local source, teams of Thoubal Police Station under the command of OC Thoubal PS and under the supervision of SP Thoubal busted an liquor manufacturing unit situated at Thoubal Athokpam today, said a press release issued by SP Thoubal.

According to Thoubal police, OC Thoubal on receiving the input informed his senior officers immediately and SP Tbl personally supervised the whole operation.

When the team reached the suspect's house, it was cordoned off by the officers and personnel including women personnel of the PS.

The operation was conducted quite tactfully and after cordoning off the house, officers and personnel of the PS entered the house and search thoroughly and discovered a liquor manufacturing unit running inside the house.

Two women suspects believed to be involved in running the unit identified as Changambam Asharani Devi (40) w/o (L) Sharangthem Ratan Singh of Thongjao, Kakching Dist escaped from the police team while the other one, namely, Changambam Romita Devi (37) w/o Moiranthem Boicha Singh of Khurai Lamlong Bazar was apprehended by the police team along with 126 bottles (750 ml which were labelled as Old Monk XXX Rum), 873 empty bottles (750 ml marked as Old Monk XXX Rum), 474 bottle caps, 30 numbers of stickers marked as Old Monk XXX Rum, 6 numbers of jerry cane having 20 litres of spirit (Unknown chemical used for manufacturing liquor), one bottle cap sealing machine.

The woman along with the seized items were handed over to Thoubal PS for further necessary action.
