Imphal, April 12 2013 :
With Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) failing to provide adequate trolleys to needy patients coming for treatment, the patients as well as their family members are facing a hard time when they landed for emergency services or are advice by the doctors for certain tests that required moving of the patients from one room to another.
JNIMS may be considered to be one of the best health care institutes in the State and thousands of people from far and wide may be coming for treatment with a ray of hope.
However, lack of basic facilities including trolleys has become a cause for another worry for the patients and their family members when they landed at the medical institute with high hope.
A patient who came for treatment in JNIMS told Hueiyen Lanpao that almost all the patients coming to medical institute for emergency services and treatment in Casualty ward are being told by the attending doctors to get their bloods tested or get an x-ray or an MRI immediately.
But as there is no adequate trolley, patients suffer a lot in moving from one place to another on one's back.
Apart from this; JNIMS lacks MRI facilities.
To get an MRI done, one has to go all the way to a private hospital spending more money, the patient disclosed.
He went on to inform that there are also cases of arguments between the doctors and patient parties when doctors on duty fail to turn up.
Doctors on night duty are seldom found when needed and this has created quite a problem for the patients.
