Member of Manipur State Women Commission, Majida Khan passed away due to a personal ailment at her Khergao Sabal Leikai residence today.
Majida was 55 and is survived by her husband Md Rahaman and and a daughter.
Before her appointment as member of the Manipur State Women Commission, Majida Khan was the vice-president of Kshetrigao Block Mahila Congress.
She also served as a teacher at Donbosco School, Chingmeirong.
Majida was also a member of Moulana Azad Foundation, North East.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister O Ibobi and many others have condoled the demise of Majida Khan.
"She was a campaigner for women's rights and social causes," the CM said in a condolence message while adding she worked zealously towards the development of women during her life as a member of MSWC.
The State has lost an eminent social reformer in her death, the CM said while conveying heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family.
Members and staff of MSWC today observed two-minute silence as a token of respect to the departed soul apart from offering floral tribute.
Parliamentary Secretary Md Amin Shah also condoled the demise of Majida Khan.
Recalling the contributions of Majida during her life time, Md Amin Shah said a vacuum is created not only within the Muslim community but also to the State which would be hard to fill.
Thongju MLA Th Bishwajit, Muslim Social Workers' Union, have also condoled the death of Majida Khan.
