Exhibition on development of NE ends

Imphal, June 11 2011:
A five-day photo exhibition under the theme 'development initiatives in northeast India' organized by DAVP Imphal in collaboration with All Christian Minority Organization (ACMO) Kakching concluded today at Kakching Community Hall.
The exhibition was inaugurated by M Inakhunbi Devi, Chairperson, Kakching Municipality Council on June 7 .
Opening the exhibition, Inakhunbi had said that the collection of photos from the eight sister states of Northeast India is "fascinating".
The photos are very nice and knowledgeable, she said while also suggesting the inclusion of local photographs of Kakching garden, public library etc.
in the next exhibition.
Explaining the purpose of the photo exhibition, Field Exhibition Officer, DAVP Imphal, Gin Gangte had earlier noted that the objective of organizing the photo exhibition is to disseminate information about the pace of various development projects undertaken by the government of India in the Northeast.
Maintaining that visual is a story medium of communication, Mr Gangte, on the concluding day of the visual treat, expressed the hope that the 130 photographs that was exhibited during the five days will give a better perspective and understanding of the northeast states thereby promoting national integration.
Rev Debendra Singh, member of Manipur state minority commission, stated on the sideline of the exhibition that "it is a great joy for me to see the pictures of Northeast region.
We can see the beauty of different communities" .
N Rahul Singh, a local visitor, said, "I can easily know the development of Northeast through the photo exhibition." While for Ng Ratika Devi, a 3rd year GNM student, the collection of photographs is "really exciting" .
E Somendro, a teacher, rightly observed that "these photos are just like a mirror that reflects the development activities of the Northeastern states as also the culture, tradition and livelihood of the people" .
The field exhibition officer, directorate of advertising and visual publicity (DAVP), ministry of information and broadcasting, government of India, Imphal, organizes photo exhibitions round the year on various flagship programs of the central government.
The next in the series of the photo exhibitions will be organized in Senapati district next month.
